Badryia Moon, The Perfect Storm

I didn’t like Halle Berry in the X-Men movies. Storm is the goddess amongst mutants. She is on the same level as Xavier, the Phoenix or Magneto, She is the commander of the weather. She represents Africa and is therefore suppose to be a strong looking woman, the mother of the team. She can be calculating and cold, mysterious, yet graceful to command respect from all the people around her.

In the comic she is worshipped in Africa, she is one of the main leaders and even Wolverine wouldn’t dare to mess with her. It’s not to say that Halle is ugly, I feel that she didn’t represent well as Storm. In my opinion Iman, Garcelle Beauvais, Angela Bassett should’ve been considered before Halle Berry. But that’s Hollywood for you Halle is a bigger box office draw.

I think that Badryia has the package to be a woman who represents African women well. Dark skinned, big eyes that draw you in, more curves than a dessert hill and she is in command of your attention. Through all the pictures she sent us she demands that you closely look at them. I`m sure when she steps out she stirs up perfect storms amongst legion of men.

In her interview Badryia talks about several things that have been topics on MXyMAG before. The lack of representation of darker skinned women on film, she talks about Keanu Reeves and her fear of flying. You can also find out if you’re the perfect man for her. Take it EZ

INTRODUCE: Hey MXyMag Readers, this is Badriya Moon I’m new to the game but I’m so happy to finally be doing something that makes me happy.

NUMBER 1: Is my family

MOTIVATION: Is my parents they support me in everything that I do!

SEXY: Sexy to me is a person that is completely honest and very positive. There are a lot of people that are “straight up” but they have such a negative tone to them.

HATE: I hate apple sauce from when I was a child I have never been able to swallow it, its sooo gross lol.

Fashion sense and style: Beyonce and Lady Gaga I like that Beyonce is glamorous and sexy and love that Gaga is fearless and very scandalous

CHANGE: I would maybe not change the industry but add more of a variety of shades in models because women’s beauty shouldn’t be just based on the shade of their skin.  I feel it’s a combination of various things, personality, features, body etc.

Spirituality: I know it sounds totally cliché but I am spiritual!

CULTURE: I was born in Nigeria Africa and I came to Canada when I was very young so I didn’t have the chance to really absorb the culture. My family have taught me a lot though how to treat people, how to cook, clean the whole nine. My people are very expressive and smart and we support each other as much as we can.  I am so proud to be Nigerian.

GROWING PAINS: Well everyone has a story and each person’s story has a varied degree of sadness. Yes, I’ve been through a lot from going to school where I was the only black girl down to having kids in Jane and Finch making fun of me cause they thought I was “white washed”. I had black men tell me I was beautiful for a dark skinned girl. I have been through a lot but I’m happy that I had these things happen to me! I find that now I’m more understanding of people’s behaviors and personalities cause like I said we all have a story.

LOVE STORY: Well, I am currently single and looking.  I am now having a hard time finding good guys due to the career path that I have chosen. I love being in love and being in a relationship because that other person is your support system. I’m not in any rush though I want a good quality guy in my life.

The ideal man?  Keanu Reeves I’m kidding but I love that guy. My ideal guy would be a man that is tall at least 6’3 in decent shape, low hair cut, nice smile and eyes and good skin. I like a guy that is gentle at heart, someone that is caring and likes to spend time with his lady. Honesty is very important to me along with loyalty. My big thing is a man with a job he doesn’t have to be rich but he needs to have his stuff together cause I need a man not a boy.

Fear: Flying on a plane, the thought of my ear popping scares me cause it hurts so much. I’ve only been on a plane once to go to Philadelphia it was an hour flight and I will be going to Nigeria which is a 16 hour flight so I don’t know!

Elaborate on your ventures thus far: Oh gosh so many to name lol, I did a calendar with Zigga zagga productions; this will be out next year. I am hosting for UR Network which will be launching soon. I’m writing a column for R.A.W. magazine, which is me ranting about boys and various things because I have so many views on things. I am working on an album and plan on launching it in Nigeria, I am working on a couple films in Nigeria and I am a reporter for various events in the city.

How did you get into Movies in Africa: I work with a manager that has a lot of contacts in Nigeria so he has sent in the word for me so I will start with something small and move into bigger roles once I’m more comfortable and the demand is there! I plan on beginning projects in the next few months

How long have you been modeling for? About 2 months now, the modeling is only a door opener but I plan on really expressing my personality and talents, through my writing, music, performing and acting.

Views on the industry at the moment: I’m starting to realize how little respect you get as a model especially being a model that is as curvy as I am. People will view me as sex and women will view me as a threat and I am none of the above. I also feel there is still a void in this industry regarding black models, particularly DARK Skin. I have flipped through Smooth, King and XXL Magazine. All I see is Spanish and light skinned girls I might get an odd dark skin girl if I’m lucky. It is completely ridiculous to me as a dark skin woman how little we are represented in the industry.

Favorite stylist: My favorite stylist would have to be Balenciaga, Dolce and Gabbana, Roberto Cavali, Balaciaga is kind of kinky. I love that they are very colorful and they really understand women’s curves especially when it comes to gowns and dresses.

Personal style: My personal style is real casual from Monday- Friday but when I go out its always colorful tight dresses and 6-7 inch heels!

What trend would you rather never came back: the MC Hammer pants that is not flattering on anyone skinny nor fat!

What trend would you LIKE to come back: I would love for the one piece jean suits that JLo rocked on her first album to come back I find it sooo sexy!

What item can’t you live without: my Black Berry is my life for obvious reasons and my chap stick, can’t forget the chapstick

Where do you see yourself in 5 years: In 5 years I will be a star whether it’s in Canada, the US or Africa. I can’t loose! I really feel that my looks are my tools to get in the door but my talent will take me a lot farther.

Spirituality: I know it sounds totally cliché but i am spiritual!

Something people should know: I am totally into hearing people’s ideas and opinions on relationships! I am very crazy when it comes to boys but in a fun way!

Promote: Well I want people to tune into my show on UR network where I will be me discussing hot city buzz and everything that is hot urban and entertainment.

Thank yous: (Grammy speech lol) I would like to thank my mom and dad for believing in me and supporting me in the beginning. I would like to thank Malayika and all of MXyMAG for putting me on. Like to thank the Odd Ruff production team, Drew and the whole UR Network family and all my friends on Facebook who have been sending me a lot advice and sending me gigs.

Love y’all
