Amber Marie, You Reap What you Sow

I don’t believe that your true colors show when you are angry, in love, drunk, desperate or whatever emotion you can add here (good or bad). I think that being engulfed by one of these emotion is really just a variation of yourself and that your true colors are when you control them, this is why it’s good to know these emotions because understanding them is a better understanding of self.

I remember sitting there with someone and telling them that hard times are the best time to keep your eyes open, because at a moment of darkness people do whatever they need to do to survive and essentially everyone has a breaking point.  It’s not that the people are bad, it just means that someone was unable to maintain composure long enough to keep their good person’s mask on. Either that or they do not know themselves well enough to control their darker toned tendencies.

Enter the modelling world. The same world I once compared to a farm that leads cattle through a slaughterhouse, I called it the losing game that taps in to people’s need to be seen. Most of the cattle that makes it through go straight through the grinder and are wringed for all they are worth. Because, most of them don’t come equipped with the knowledge of what they are getting in to, and they get lost in the shuffle. Plus their impulsive control and censorship systems are low like Lindsey Lohan (though I’m sure her loss is nothing compared to those who die nobody).

It’s not me discouraging anyone or being negative on the industry, it’s me making someone understand that being a multimillion dollar brand that commands attention comes with sacrifice and coming in blind can make you lose more than you can afford.

Those who don’t make it through the grinder’s gates are unaware of what is on the other side, they only see the glitz and glamour and naturally they burn with envy. In a state of envy they have choices to make, help their fellow brethrens out, or cripple them to increase the odds of going through.

Amber Marie, Amber is a sexy girl, not just through her looks but because of her ability to hold her composure long enough to see herself be the hero (and get a high of helping out), and I’m glad that MXyMAG.com can recognize her for it.

Her will to help out someone who may get through that grinder before her will all add up in the end, not just for herself but for the grinder. Why? Because you reap what you sow and somewhere along the way when she falls there will be someone there to give a helping hand back. If the person she helped never sees her again then most likely that person passed on the good deed to someone whom also was in need of the helping hand.

Either way, whatever she is doing Amber is planting seeds that will grow in to trees that spark light in a place that the people made dark.

Hey what’s up, introduce yourself My name is Amber Marie and I’m originally from Columbia, SC.

What are you doing that’s relevant to the general public? As of now, I’m doing what I do best, modeling and being me! I think that’s (being yourself that is) currently something that is missing in today’s society so I’m bringing that back!

What are your thought on the word sexy? I think being sexy is much easier than most people see it.

What do you mean? It has nothing to do with wearing skimpy clothing, 6- inch stilettos (although I LOVE them), or showing everything you have…I mean, it’s nice to look at if you’re a visual person but its not what makes you sexy.

What makes you sexy? Sexy, or being sexy (to me), is knowing how to handle your business. Not waiting for someone to give you a hand out, but knowing when to go out and work for what you deserve and want for your life. If you can do those three things and stay fly while doing so, to me, and my definition your sexy.

Why do you think most men are infatuated a woman of power and stature?  They find that sexy and appealing.

Lol because there is something about strength with inches of vulnerability.

When did you first notice that you’re sexy? I first noticed I was sexy when I got into this industry and found out that modeling isn’t as easy as most people think. It takes hard work and tough skin. Once I found my inner “go getter” attitude and started seeing the fruits of my labor…I realized I was sexy.

Now, why should you be number 1 on the Sweet16 Contest? I think I should be number 1 on The Sweet 16 because I’m genuine, down to earth, and real. What you see, hear me say, or do is really what you get from me on a daily basis. I never put on a front to be someone that I’m not, and most people respect that! Plus, I’m easy on the eyes so why wouldn’t you want me as number 1? *Smile*

Looking at your career right now, how do you feel about it? Looking at where I am now I would say that I am pleased, because it’s better than where I was last year, heck, even yesterday. Do I wish to advance and improve? Of course, I wouldn’t be able to get to where I plan on going or be who I plan on being without a desire to do more, be more.

I guess as long as you work hard things progress right? I’m just pleased that everyday is better than yesterday because it shows that I’m advancing. In modeling, that’s everything, because either you advance and increase or you’ll watch job after job, endorsement after endorsement begin to decrease!

On MXyMAG.com’s executive staff we have a motto that says standing still equals death, This is a dog eat dog industry and because there are so many choices it takes nothing more than a milli-second to be replaced.

What motivates you? You really want to know what I love and makes me go crazy (In a good way)?

Yes ma’am, To go into a casting and see a model helping out another model. That just really does something to me. I try to be that person, when needed. But that to me just speaks genuine.

It’s a beautiful moment for anyone to see right? Yes, this industry is so competitive that sometimes the nicest people do the most unattractive things for the sake of “booking the job.” So to see or be that person just gives me life.

You seem like the person to do that, Most of the time I’m that person, and other girls look at me like I’m crazy!

*laughs* I can only imagine the confusion in people you can’t have strengths in everything. Her strength may be runway, mine may be commercial. So if she needs help with looking a little bit more commercial, why not help her?

Makes sense, why do you think its so competitive out there? Most models don’t understand when you’re not selected or booked for something, its nothing personal. You’re just not the “look” they were going for.  Models are just live mannequins, if you’re not the look they want, they move on to the next, regardless.

That’s cold but so truthful, The sooner every model figures that out the less “dog eat dog“ this industry will be. Besides, God already has pre-destined my career so there is no need for me to fight you to the door just for the sake of “booking”.  If this job is mine and he’s already put that in the book, I’m there. So I’m good.

It motivates me when I help others, because I’m a firm believer in, “You reap what you sow.”

Hate? Hmmm, I guess I could say that I hate, haters. I think they’re so pointless. Their being, what they do, why they do it. I’m just like, you’re only hating because I’m most likely doing something you wish you could be doing…so why don’t you just do it? But then again, it’s an ugly job but if they didn’t, who would? You know? Somebody’s gotta do it! I’d rather it be them, than me. The payoff for that job isn’t substantial enough, so I’ll let them have it. *Laughs*

Your fears? You know, if this were last year I would’ve said my biggest fear is failure, but I’ve grown from that…

How and or why did you grow because now I understand that it takes a few failures before you can succeed. So I guess being that my fear was failure, I’ve already overcome that.

Aside from failure what were some of your struggles and what did you do to outgrow them? I think I most struggled with understanding that for where I wish to be and how big I see myself being, in such a short period of time, I’m going to have to hear the “No’s”  “you’re not the “look” we’re going for” or the blatant,” We’re not casting black girls” before I hear the “YES”, “We’d love to offer…” or “We think you’d be great for…”

Which individual person strongly inspires you? My sister, she probably doesn’t even know this but she inspires me so much!

Why? She does so much in just a 24-hour span every single day, works so hard so that she can have a better life for her and her family. Yet somehow continuously keeps a smile on her face and other people laughing. She’s definitely a “go getter”.

What do you do when you’re not focused on your career? When I’m not in front of the camera, I’m in the mirror trying to find better/new looks for the next date I have with the camera. *Laughs* Seriously.

What feeds your spirit? God & quotes, these two are sure ways to either get my spirits up or keep them up and inspired!

What’s your love story sound like? Wow, love. *Smile* Its such a beautiful thing…

It can be… I think if I could say anything about love I would say the minute you begin finding better ways to give it, you’ll be more likely to receive it in the same manner. Don’t be out here looking for a dime when you’re barely a nickel yourself. Life, love, anything really (to me) is 90% of what you sow. You reap, what you sow. That’s in the good book.

Nice, that’s all the time we have for now. Before we end this anyone you’d like to thank out there? I’d really like to thank all those who didn’t believe in me, said I wouldn’t, or couldn’t…because of you, I am, I will, and I have. Success is the greatest revenge. So watch me work!
